Verify a Canadian Representative letter
If you have received an attestation letter naming Smutylo Law+ (ISEDRepresentative.com) as an applicant's Canadian Representative and want to confirm it is genuine and still in force, send the IC certification number or applicant name and the letter date to info@isedrepresentative.com, call +1 613 869 5440, or use the form below. We confirm in writing within one business day. RSP-100 does not require a QR code, seal or other device on the letter; a signed letter and a verifiable signatory are what section 4.1 contemplates.
What we confirm
That the letter was issued by Smutylo Law+; the applicant, IC certification number (or company number and product, where the IC number was pending) and models it covers; the issue date and any reissue dates; and that the appointment is current. We do not disclose the applicant's contact details, test reports or anything beyond what the letter itself states.
Who may ask
Certification bodies and foreign certification bodies reviewing an application, ISED's Certification and Engineering Bureau, test laboratories preparing a submission, and Canadian importers or distributors doing diligence on a supplier. Applicants can ask for a fresh copy of their own letter through the revision form.
How to check without contacting us
Every letter carries our legal name, the Ottawa address that appears on the contact page, and the signatory's name. Koby Smutylo is a licensee of the Law Society of Ontario (44441E), which can be confirmed on the Law Society's public directory. A letter that gives a different address, a different signatory, or a QR code in place of a signature did not come from us.
Is a QR code or blockchain verification required on a Canadian Representative letter?
No. RSP-100 section 4.1 requires that the representative's details be identified on the Application and Agreement for Certification Services; it prescribes no form, seal or verification device for the letter. Some providers add a QR code. A certification body that wants to verify our letter can do so by email, phone or this page.
