Introducing Updates: news on ISED rules and this service
This site now has an Updates section. The guides remain the standing reference on the Canadian Representative requirement; Updates is where we will post dated news — changes to RSP-100 and related ISED documents, developments in the certification process that affect applicants outside Canada, and announcements about the service itself.
Why a separate section
The guides on this site answer questions whose answers are meant to stay stable: what RSP-100 section 4.1 requires, what an attestation letter must contain, how long the appointment lasts. When ISED revises a procedure or something changes in how certifications are processed, that news does not belong buried in a reference page. It belongs in a dated post you can check, and the affected guide is revised at the same time.
What we will post here
Expect updates in three categories: changes to ISED documents and procedures that bear on the Canadian Representative requirement (RSP-100 issues, related RSS and RSP documents, Certification Bureau practice); developments in the certification process that matter to foreign applicants and the labs and certification bodies that serve them; and occasional service announcements covering pricing, turnaround or scope changes to the Canadian Representative service.
Each post carries its date and, like everything on this site, is written by Koby Smutylo, the Ontario lawyer who has held Canadian Representative appointments since 2010.
How to follow
New posts appear on this page's parent Updates index and in the site's RSS feed alongside new guides. If a change affects an appointment you hold through us, we contact you directly. The Updates section is information for the wider certification community, not a substitute for client notices.
